BIRDS OF WYE ISLAND walk of the Talbot County Bird Club on 11-14-10

            Hi all on Sunday Nov 11,2010  six birders of the Talbot County Bird Club  joined field trip leader Danny Poet  in  the wilds of Wye Island In Queen Annes County  to look  for waterfowl  and sparrows  . The waterfowl was as scarce as hens teeth  except Geese and a couple of duck species .
       we  ended the morning with 42 species  and a great time was had by all in spite of  not much waterfowl  being found there .
Birds seen or heard but   nothing rare or off the wall  . Numbers are mostly estimated

Great Blue Heron   1
Black Vulture
Turkey Vulture
Bald Eagle         3 total  two adults  and one subadult  4 year bird 
Sharp shinned Hawk  1
Coopers Hawk    1
Red Tailed Hawk   2
Killdeer   15 
Ring Billed Gull 
Herring Gull 
Great Black Backed Gull 
Rock Pigeon  group saw these  on the  drive  to the Island 
Mourning Dove   30   power lines on Carmichael Rd
Belted Kingfisher    1  at the bridge 
Red Bellied Woodpecker   3
Downy Woodpecker     2
Northern Flicker      3
Pileated Woodpecker  1 heard only 
Blue Jay  many 
American Crow
