We saw the sandhill crane in the storm pond off Church Rd and Fairwood Pkwy access road in the twilight on 11/25 and then again in good light at 7:50 a.m. today 11/26. It waded the pond in the intermittent rain for 15 min before taking flight. The crane shares its roost with a lone Canada goose who may be injured, right wing not fully tucked. Over three days, it has not been seen in flight.

We proceeded to the pond at the other end of Fairwood Pkwy. near Shamrock Delight and saw many hooded mergansers and a belted kingfisher, before discovering our car had a dead battery. Luckily for us, a birder with no luck at Church Rd. then came to this hidden pond and jumped us! Thanks.
