Scanning the pond from my window here at Arundel Village Park in Brooklyn . Ooo whats that white bird sitting on clump of grass at far end of pond ? Never had white bird here . Set up the scope ... Oh look white trash shaped like a swan...Pied billed grebe still here .. few Mallard .. .no sparrows or finches in marsh grasses .. Ok im done .. Ooo what was that very huge long skinny winged erratic bird close to house ?? Wait for it to come back ... Oooo look there are birds ... coming from all directions of the neighborhood . ... Very huge bird apparently stirring up birds. .. so glad had that scope!! .. didnt have to get dressed , go out in the cold , and walk down there to see trash swan... sit here and wait for Huge bird to come back ....
Also of note .. Holiday Yellow bellied Sapsucker .... The Sapsucker that comes on holidays .. First Sapsucker yard bird ever was last New Years . Second ever just showed up on Tnanksgiving .
