When I got home this afternoon (no idea where I've been), the wife suggested
we drive over the hill and see the now most famous Crane in the world. Yes,
we finally saw it after somebody else saw it wandering up from the smaller
pond. It is indeed the greatest Crane in the world now that it has set foot
here in Carroll just minutes from my house.
And to follow up June's quote earlier this week about my comment that it is
impossible to leave Carroll County, yes that is true. When Don Henley wrote
Hotel California it was all a metaphor about Carroll County - You can check
out any time you like but you can never leave. Trust me. Or call Don. I'm
sure he's easy to get hold of.

In other sightings, for the second time in about a week I spotted a BALD
EAGLE over Route 31 between Westminster and New Windsor. Today it was in the
general vicinity of Wakefield Valley Road. Unlike Juncos, they ain't real
common out here. There is one that hangs out down at Piney Run and sometimes
they can be spotted around Liberty Dam. I've had 2 fly over the lake across
the road in 25 years living here.

So if you get a Bald Eagle while you're crane hunting out here, consider
yourself lucky. And also consider yourself lucky if you get back out.
Doesn't happen.
