Walked the river trail from Great Falls up to close to Swain's lock this
afternoon. More ducks on the river than a few days ago. Several hundred
Ring-necked, lots of Coots, a pair of Hooded Mergansers; two male and
several female Common Mergansers; 10-12 Bufflehead; and lots of geese. An
immature Bald Eagle was sitting on a snag on Conn Island,
Along the tow path we found two Winter Wrens, and three muskrats eating
mussels from under the ice. Nice day for a walk.
