MDOSPREYers,

The Eared Grebe was noted today at about 11 am, viewed from near the metal
docks below the Visitor Center at the park. The Eared Grebe was associating
with ca. 20 Hooded Mergansers, a few Common Mergansers and Buffleheads and
were staying out of the wind by hugging the shoreline across from the metal
docks, below the low hillside with junipers.

The lake was quite productive for waterfowl with an excellent assortment
including Redhead and Common Goldeneye. Bufflehead dominated the abundance
followed by Ruddy Duck. 15 Pied-billed Grebes were noted. Perhaps also of
note was a single Tundra Swan near the easternmost boat ramp with Am.
Wigeon, Ring-necked Ducks, Gadwall, and Am. Coots close by. The previously
reported Long-tailed Duck was not found.
