The RLHA was also seen this morning c. 10 am (first spotted by john Hubbell)
at the usual location.

BTW I had the GCSP at 9:10 am so it was pretty reliable this morning.

Phil, thank you for flashing your hazard lights when you saw the bird. Sean
and I were able to see it well enough despite the sun glare. After everyone
else left, we also left to try for the Rough-legged Hawk, with no success,
but we returned to Chesapeake Farms and had another good look at the
sparrow. After Sean dropped me off at my car (he had Christmas Eve duties at
home--he should get lots of husband points for that) I went north for the
Wheatear, which I found in the unlikeliest location for a state park that
I've ever seen. It's a narrow oasis in an industrial wasteland and looks
most unpromising until you drive through the park gates. I had great looks
at the Wheatear, which is much prettier than its name, and a very
cooperative bird. Thank you, Dirk, for the look through your scope.

With the Glaucous Gull on Monday, this makes three life birds in one week!

Happy holidays, everyone, and I hope we all have great birding in the new
year.
