I birded the Bainbridge sector of the Rock Run CBC for my 5th time since 2005 (missed 2008). This area is in Cecil County, north of 95 and east of Port Deposit.

I had my best duck year ever on the river. I suspect the snow had a lot to do with that. On the Susquehanna, around midday, I found:

American Black Duck - 10
Ring-necked Duck - 3
Greater Scaup - 4
Lesser Scaup - 30 (exact count)
Long-tailed Duck - 1 adult male
Black Scoter - 1 female photographed with the scaup/ring-neck flock off Port Deposit
Bufflehead - 6
Common Goldeneye - 8
Common Merganser - 41
Pied-billed Grebe - 3
Horned Grebe - 1

Other interesting sightings from territory:
Cackling Goose - 2
Black-capped Chickadee - 4
Rusty Blackbird - 45 pure flock of Rusties at the corner of Craigtown Rd and 275
Chipping Sparrow - 1

The snow was never really that bad, not starting until about noon. It was the wind that forced me to call it a day at 3:30pm.

Good birding!
