Leslie and all,

These are some good ops for lifers for Laura. However, we don't know where
Great Oak Pond or Reese's Corner Road are. Could somebody provide
directions?

Also, we've been to Chesapeake Farms at least once but some reminders on
that would help, too.

Please reply off list.
Thanks,

Jerry Tarbell

Goose

As we drove west on Reese's Corner Road around 12:30 this afternoon we
immediately saw a candidate for the Rough-legged Hawk, but it proved to be
the first of at least 5 BALD EAGLES, this and two other immatures and two
adults. After about twenty minutes, the ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK appeared and
drifted around by the grain elevators, often hovering with its bulky
feathered legs dangling. We had good scope views and Joe took some photos,
which may be posted later.

As the hawk went in and out of view, we kept scoping raptors and eventually
saw a juvenile GOLDEN EAGLE. Its tail with white above a thick black
terminal band was similar to the Rough-legged's, but the upper- and
undersides of the wings were dark with white "wrist" patches.

We made a pass at the sparrow location, but there were many cars waiting.
(Apologies to those we disturbed by driving through.) Since we had already
seen the bird we decided to try for ROSS'S GOOSE at Great Oak Pond, and
after scanning thousands of Snow Geese we eventually found one.
