The Pickering Creek Northern Shrike was quite cooperative this afternoon.
From 2:00 to 2:45 it moved about from tree top to tree top amongst the small
pines on the berm between the two most easterly of the "new" wetland ponds
beside Audubon Lane. Several birders parked at the entrance to Audubon Lane
and watched with scopes from that corner. A pretty bird. I arrived at the
site around 2:00 and soon was joined by Jim Brighton and his friend Jared.
A little later Zach Baer joined the group. The previous visit to Pickering
Creek by a Northern Shrike was in 2005, and that bird stayed on or near the
property for several weeks.
