All: took one of my occasional pre-work walks around Schoolhouse Pond
this morning. Much of the pond was frozen over, and the highlight was 40
Northern Shovelers in various plumages swimming and resting in the
ice-free portion of the pond to the left. Another interesting
observation, on the pond's other side, was a mid-size tree that has
nearly been chewed through by a beaver. The activity looked quite
recent.
