Hi all,

I birded the Eastern Shore yesterday(1/10/2011) starting at Fairmount WMA in
Somerset ultimately working to Ocean City. The wind kept passerine activity
down at all stops, so the first real highlight was a flyby first-cycle
KUMLIENs ICELAND GULL at Crisfield. I continued east stopping at Truitts
Landing, the pond was frozen and waterfowl numbers seemed low, I tried to
relocate Mike and Betsy's Common Teal without success though it could have
easily been tucked up against the bank, I was able to locate a single SEDGE
WREN at the end of the road which was nice. I continued to the inlet where
most of the recently reported birds continued, my count of COMMON EIDERS was
up to 34, there was an interesting Thayer's like gull on the south jetty,
that I feel confident was a pale HERRING GULL based on structure. I then
stopped at Skimmer and worked through the large gull flock with no
surprises. My final stop was West Ocean City pond, where I located a female
EURASIAN WIGEON among the usual species.

Good Birding!
