The first-winter Iceland Gull found by Dan Haas at Sandy Point SP, AA
County, was observed this morning at 9 am, floating just offshore in the
Chesapeake Bay. This is near the parking lot at the small craft
launching area. While the bird was quite cooperative, it took about 30
minutes for this gull dunce to find it among the many Ring-Bills and
handfulls of Herring and GB Gulls.
Waterfowl observed among the numerous Scaup included 4 Common Goldeneye
starting to get into courtship mode, and a pair of female Red-Breasted
Mergansers.
Thanks to Dan, Clive and David Yeany, et al, for the recent Iceland Gull
postings. This was a good AA County bird!
