Following up on Jim Wilkinson's post of last week, I went out to Mt. Pleasant Farm to look for the American Tree Sparrows he reported among other sparrows. After 2 hours of searching in the cold wind, I did find many sparrows, but no American Tree. Either they had moved on or they were in other areas while I was searching. I did find numourous Field Sparrows, 19 in totoal, all of which I checked carefully. This is probably the largest grouping/flock I've ever seen at once. They were flocking along the creek bottom above #8, feeding in the brush and fields intermittently. Also present were several dozen song and white-throated sparrows.
Finally, I did have a COMMON RAVEN fly to the SE of the preserve. My first in HOCO.
Good Birding,
