Hello all -

Interesting to see all the sightings of Lapland Longspurs lately. Pre-migration
movement perhaps? I found two Lapland Longspurs today while participating in the
Frederick County Mid-winter count. The longspurs were with a huge (85+) flock of
Horned Larks , picking through a freshly-manured field along Tabler Road.

Another highlight was a Cackling Goose looking lonely and lost amidst a 2,500+
flock of Canada Geese. Other highlights: Common Mergansers and Black Ducks on
the Monocacy River, two Ruddy Ducks, and courting Red-tailed Hawks.
