This HERMIT THRUSH seems to be wintering here on my silly little acre.
Yesterday I noticed it flitting among some branches on the bank as I went to
get the mail. A little while ago it was back at the water garden. Just now I
spotted it feeding with some WHITE-THROATS down where the sun has melted the
snow off of a small patch of yard next to a tree. Making itself right at
home. Now only of it would sing. Easily one of the most entertaining and
melodious songs out there.

The other day when I came home I spotted a bird back at the base of the
White Pine behind the water garden and I am quite sure it was the 2nd or 3rd
WINTER WREN we've ever had here. I recall one landing on the old deck we
replaced with this nice big one a couple years ago. So I went in to get my
binocs just to make sure. I couldn't relocate the bird but when I turned
around there was bird landing on the side of the tree next to the drive. My
binocs quickly located the 1st BROWN CREEPER that we've had here. I do not
recall any others but may have been one so long ago I've forgotten it.

In spite of the lousy weather this winter the birds are more varied than
usual.
