Anyone who has picked up trash on a regular basis near the District of Columbia can verify anecdotally (sp?) that
there are far less plastic bags than in previous years. The only slight problem is that when plastic bags aren't found on the ground,
there is nothing immediate to use to carry the other trash found on the ground.

By the way, while one is birding, bending over to pick up trash is great exercise.
