I ran into Greg Butcher at Hains Point this morning at about 9:45 am.  Together we located 1 Black-capped and 2 Carolina Chickadees working their way down-river from the second bathroom on the Potomac side to the first.  The Black-cap was noticeably longer than the Carolinas and had extensive white on the greater coverts and wing feathers.  The white on the underparts was really white, and contrasted with the peachy flanks.  We watched the birds off and on for a period of 30 minutes as they flitted around.  The northerner was fairly tame, allowing close approach, and sometimes was out in the open.
After we had looked at the chickadees, we went around the point looking for uncommon gulls but found only the three common species.  All the geese we saw were Canadas.
