Yesterday I birded the Lower Eastern Shore with Jim Stasz and Ed Boyd. It was a great day to out, here are some highlights:

Fairmount WMA East impoundment:
Eurasian Teal - 1 male with 2700 Green-winged Teal. Photographs and not to be submitted to the MDDCRC.
Common Merganser - 16!!!!, 1 adult male and 15 female types. Very rare in Somerset County and certainly a new high count! These were seen flying west over the parking area. Great pick by Jim Stasz!
Black-headed x Ring-billed Gull - same continuing adult bird

The waterfowl assortment in the East impoundment was quite impressive with the large number of Green-winged Teal and scattering of other dabblers.

Deal Island WMA, Riley Roberts Rd:
American Wigeon - 586, the most wigeon I've ever seen at Deal, but historically could number in the thousands
No Eurasian Wigeon was found.

Salisbury Landfill:
Greater White-fronted Goose - still with the Canada Goose flock at the landfill
Iceland Gull - 1st cycle
Glaucous Gull - 1st cycle

Good birding!
