Hello all,

There were at least 2 Greater White-fronted Geese seen with a large flock of Canada Geese at the Salisbury landfill pond on Saturday. A friend and I saw them at about 3 pm. As previously reported they appeared to be first-winter birds with no real black barring but with some white around their orange bills. One had more white than the other but the belly was concealed by a Canada so we couldn't age that one very well. No white-winged gulls seen, in fact very few gulls were visible when we were here. A Pileated called from the pines beyond the pond, which had about 40 Tundra Sans and a pair of Ring-necked Ducks. We also had a single tom Wild Turkey in the fileld on Naylor Mill Rd between the landfill at Rte 50.

We also found the largest flock of Tundra Swans I have ever seen or heard of on New Bridge Road in Dorchester Co. not far from Elliott Island Rd. My friend told me he saw 2,000 Swans earlier in th week, so I said lets go check it out, thinking for sure they would be Snow Geese. Nope. We conservately estimated at least 2,000 Tundra Swans in several flocks of 200 - 600 each all along New Bridge Road from Steele Neck Rd. to Ravenwood Rd. They were feeding on corn stubble. Very impressive sight.

Also of note was at least one, possibly two River Otters and another small flock of Wild Turkeys on the way back to Cambrdige (near Airey).

No sign of the Common Teal at Truitts landing (we searched from about 8:15 - 9:30am) although the majoprity of the GW Teal were in the very furthest pool back, hidden by the marsh.

Good Birding,
