There were several WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS there and then I spotted a FOX SPARROW with them.

My feeder hosted a Fox Sp this morning. As with Gerald's it was in the company of several WT Sp. They (Fox sp) are a regular every year. It was funny to observe both sparrow types similarly scratching among the seed debris; the Fox was much better at moving debris however.
The Killdeer (a single and a pair) flew/calling overhead on FRI eve (i believe) when it was still light enogh to ovserve them. Earlier in the week, one flew/calling much later in the evening. Soon the farm fields will be full of them.
Also becoming more evident at the feeders are grackles and starlings.
No sign of "my" garter snake today, but i'll hold this post for a while in the event he shows up. He/she would be happy (?) to learn that he/she was the first herp reported in FRED county this year according to:

He/she did show after all. Not surprising as the burrow is on the SW side of the house...
BTW this is my last REPTILE post to MDOsprey for the foreseeable future...
