Although I was not there birding, there was plenty of bird action at Druid Hill Park today. The highlight was a Red-Tailed Hawk sitting on top of a recently-caught seagull, right on the paved area on the North side of the Reservoir running/cycling loop. Since it did not want to leave its prey, the hawk allowed people to walk/run by about 10 feet away from it. After figuring out that this was not the spot to dine in peace, the hawk proceeded to drag the (dead) gull off of the paved area and onto the grass, where it was able to get a good enough grip on it to fly off with it, thus avoiding its prey getting taken by an off-leash dog or anything else. Right over top of the hawk with its prey, many gulls and American Crows circled and made it clear they were quite unhappy that the hawk had gotten the seagull. Quite a commotion.

Additionally, there were (that I could see without binoculars):

Hooded Mergansers: 3
American Coots: 6
Canada Geese: 70+
American Crows: 20
