Morning all,
Just standing out back while the dog did his business, between rain drops (light for moment), I watched the bluebirds cavorting in the fields. Pairs seem to be teaming up to drive away others, defending boxes, which will certainly change before they settle down to raise families. Yesterday I watched a male going in and out of a box, followed by a small flock of Starlings trying to wrest it from him, followed by a male House Sparrow...you get the picture.

But today, lots of bluebirds chattering and flitting around, so at least there's something going on in the yard, in the rain. A Carolina Wren was singing very loudly early this morning too, waking me as I dozed on the couch, making me think it was the "bird clock" in the kitchen, but over and over.

Glad for the rain,
Rick Sussman
