Last Saturday in the late afternoon I was whizzing through the wildlife trail at Blackwater. No ducks except mallards. In the pool behind the Visitor's Center, there were several hundred Snow Geese. Suddenly they all rose up with a roar and a great commotion, flying right over my head. They circled around and then flew back over my head to land from whence they started. It was a wonderful sight.

Then at marker #11, I thought I spotted something white and larger than the tundra swans. There were two AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS standing on something that made them tower a bit above the swans. I haven't recalled anyone posting about the pelicans this year. Well, there they were. Another lovely sight.
