This evening I went to Kenilworth Park in DC to look for displaying American Woodcock. I was not disappointed!

I walked the blacktop trail to the back section of the park nearest to the Benning Road power station and heard the first "beent" at 6:20pm near the abandoned restroom. I heard at least 5 separate woodcock beenting, flushed 6 or 7 and saw about the same number flying for a very conservative estimate of 5 or 6 woodcock. There could have been 10 there. The show ended at 6:40 with the last of the beents.
