I stopped by the marina in Havre de Grace this afternoon to see the very cooperative Iceland Gull reported by Les Eastman earlier (thanks Les). I've posted a series of photos to flickr and would be interested in hearing feedback/comments on the plumage cycle of this bird. My first impression is that this is a bird that looks to have hatched last summer, and hasn't been through a molt, but the beak is more bicolor than most photos of first cycle birds I've seen. I've only seen a couple Iceland Gulls in the flesh...feathers...and have no experience differentiating the different cycles. When does a first cycle bird become a second cycle bird? Any comments would be welcome...constructive ones...not like "Second cycle, pinhead." That wouldn't be welcome. Here's the link to the photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27381338@N03/5533626232/in/photostream/
