I headed up to Fort Ritchie after seeing Jim Green's post from Brad Lanning
this morning -- thank you, gentlemen! I quickly found the Long-tailed
Duck, along with a Ruddy Duck, 4 Lesser Scaup, and 2 Ring-necked Ducks. A
Horned Grebe was also present. From there I headed to Blairs Valley Lake,
where the only waterfowl were Canada Geese.

But things got better. Here are the highlights:

Big Pool:
Common Loon - 1
Gadwall - 2
Lesser Scaup - 18
Red-breasted Merganser - 9
Common Merganser - 5
Horned Grebe - 27

C&O at Cushwa in Williamsport where I hit a jackpot:
Long-tailed Duck - 23 !!! (all in a tight group, up and diving down
practically in unison)
Horned Grebe - 7
Tree Swallow - 1
Rough-winged Swallow - 13

Boonesboro Wastewater Treatment Plant
Northern Shoveler - 3
Ring-necked Duck - 10
Long-tailed Duck - 1 (making 25 in the county for me today)
Horned Grebe - 2

A full report will be posted to e-bird. It was a good afternoon to be in
Washington County!
