I did a quick spin around Hains Pt., DC on my way home from work this
(Thursday, 3/24) afternoon. Not much diversity, but still some
activity:

4 REDHEADS (1 male, 3 females) in the middle of the Potomac. Later, as
I was driving over the 14th St. Bridge, I saw 4 ducks flying overhead
that looked like Redheads, but I couldn't be sure.

c.50 HORNED GREBES - they were scattered all up and down the river in
ones and twos, along with a few flocks (12 in one, 19 in another). They
were in various stages of molt, several quite advanced a really pretty.
The most interesting thing about them was that one or two were calling.
I don't think I've ever heard Horned Grebes before. But it was quiet
enough that I actually heard them. Really cool.

1 BONAPARTE'S GULL - adult flew by, heading down river.

Good birding,
