Hi Dave,
 I just read your post to MDOsprey via Jo Solem, and this sounds like a great project. I don't completely understand why it took so long to get approval, but I guess it's all in the gov't red-tape.

Anyway, my wife and I were just down in OC at the beginning of last week, and I did notice how little the island has become. I passed it off as just a high tide, since we don't often get down there and I wasn't familiar with the extent of erosion. I think if this project is well documented, it would make a fascinating talk for MOS meetings, even perhaps for the conference. Your talks are always much anticipated (at least I think so), and this one would be excellent, I think.

P.S, we saw a few groups of oystercatchers flying around and pairing up right below our balcony (The Lighthouse at Fagars Island,56th street and the bay) when we were there, as well as the other species you mentioned.
