Highlights from a productive early morning walk around Schoolhouse Pond included 17 flyover Bonaparte's Gulls (closely following a group of 20 flyover Laughing Gulls) and 1 flyover Caspian Tern. Other birds included 1 Great Egret, 1 adult Bald Eagle, several Osprey (one of which chased the Bald Eagle briefly), 6 Green-winged Teal, 8 Wood Ducks, a singing Brown Thrasher, groups of Barn and Tree Swallows, 9 Wilson's Snipe and 2 Lesser Yellowlegs. Total flyover gulls included 17 Bonaparte's Gulls, 52 Laughing Gulls, 50 Herring Gulls, and 18 Ring-billed Gulls. There are lots of exposed mudflats around the pond this spring, so hopefully some shorebirds will be dropping in.
