It's not every year that they have been showing up but it's been more
years than not over the last 5 years that Wild Turkey have been showing
up along the runways at BWI Airport. This morning a Tom was displaying
near the approach end of Runway 28 at around 7:30. The bird flushed to a
nearby woods when an airport vehicle approached and was not seen again.
Unfortunately for the birds that make their way to the airport, due to
the hazards that these birds pose, especially in close proximity to the
runways, they are usually dealt with by the airport wildlife specialists
in a harsh way. Hopefully this bird will pass through and live a long
and healthy life. Unfortunately these birds do not display in an area
for birders to see them from publicly accessible locations.

I had to make my way down to North Beach after work today. My
observations at the North Beach Marsh were 102 Bonaparte's Gulls, 15
Ring-billed Gulls, 3 Blue-winged Teal, 14 Green-winged Teal, 10 Mallards
and 2 Lesser Yellowlegs.

On my drive north I was at the stop light on MD Rt. 2 and College
Parkway and there was a soaring Broad-winged Hawk passing a little above
tree top level and traveling north. This would have been at about 6:00
this evening.
