Jeff Culler and I birded several locations in Worcester and Wicomico
Counties plus a few other stops on the way home. We left Columbia, MD at
4:00 am so we could arrive at West Ocean City Pond by 6:30 am. This was too
late. The egrets were already leaving their roost. I would recommend
arriving by 6:00 am. There were still 65 Great Egrets and 38 Black-crowned
Night-Herons but no White Ibis. As we arrived several egrets were already in
the air. At Skimmer Island we had Snowy Egrets, Little Blue Herons,
Tricolored Heron, and Cattle Egrets. The Ocean City Inlet had 65
Red-throated Loons in a brief 25 minute visit. Most locations along
Nanticoke Rd had Brown Pelicans. A pair of Black Scoters were at Nanticoke
Harbor. Royal Terns and a Purple Martin were at Roaring Point. Northern
Gannets were at Waterview.
