Mom and I did a  drive thru at Southwest area Park  in the Baltimore Highlands area of  Southwest Baltimore this evening and was able to find the reported American Bittern . Stopped at the large pond /mud flat area on the way in . Did not see anything but gulls and Mallard  . Checked the boat launch area . and on the way back stopped at the Mudflat area again. The Bittern did a short flight in the corner of the pond closest to the road and was unable to see. i backed up and moved to the left side of the road and could just barely see it hidden in the reeds . Seems he knew he was hidden enough that the man feeding bread to the gulls , the people walking by and cars flying by didnt bother him.
