Hi all,

I birded a few areas along the Patuxent in Prince George's County on Sunday,
some highlights were 54 BONAPARTE'S GULLS on the river viewed from Merkle,
one singing VESPER SPARROW along the Merkle stretch of the Critical Area
Driving Tour, 10 GREATER YELLOWLEGS and 7 LESSER YELLOWLEGS in the field
also along the Merkle stretch of the CADT. Back at home a short afternoon
hawk watch produced a single BROAD-WINGED HAWK among AMERICAN KESTRELs,
SHARP-SHINNED and COOPER'S HAWKS, BALD EAGLES, RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS, and
both vultures.

Checking radar this morning, it looked like a there was a nice movement of
birds overnight, so I headed back to Merkle and birded mostly along Fenno
Road and the Merkle entrance road, there were a few recent arrivals around
including one PROTHONOTARY WARBLER, 3 NORTHERN PARULAs, many LOUISIANA
WATERTHRUSH, 3 OVENBIRD, 1 BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER, many WHITE-EYED VIREOs,
and one surprise AMERICAN BITTERN flushed from a wetland area on Fenno Road
dominated by Buttonbush.

Good Birding!
