Howdy-

I participated in another FSU ornithology class lab today in the pouring rain at Rocky Gap SP- ten students, and my assistant, Dr. Ammer. One of the cooler birds we saw was a leucistic female BELTED KINGFISHER, tipped to me earlier this week by Kevin Oxenrider (documentation photos at: www.flickr.com/photos/mattyfioner/ ). The LONG-TAILED DUCK, seen yesterday, remains on the lake, still too distant for photos. Lots of swallows have arrived- BARN, TREE, and NORTHERN-ROUGH WINGED were in abundance.

Passerines were fairy active. Warbler included BLACK-AND-WHITE, YELLOW-RUMPED, PRAIRIE, PINE, and COMMON YELLOWTHROAT. We also had both kinglets, and good showings of woodpeckers and sparrows.

Good birding!
Matt
