Hi --

Rainy weather is usually good for looking for gulls and a trip to Back
River
(Balto. Co.) yielded good numbers of Bonaparte's Gulls, but nothing
unusual. (Of the estimated 850 present, we were able to get good looks at
about 600). Purple Martins were back in force over the river but the
number of Tree and Barn Swallows had declined significantly. A surprise
was an adult GLOSSY IBIS foraging on some wet grass near the river.

Birds of interest (not a complete list):

Common Loon - 1
Pied-billed Grebe - 1
GLOSSY IBIS - 1
Wood Duck - 4
Ruddy Duck - 6
Bald Eagle - 8
Osprey - 12
Bonaparte's Gull -- est. 850, most molting into summer plumage
Caspian Tern - 1
Purple Martin - est. 50
Tree Swallow -- 500
Barn Swallow - 20
Pine Warbler - heard
