I was out this morning for my birthday ritual of finding at least one new Year Bird. It was pretty good along the river trail on the HoCo side.

8 species of warbler:
    Northern Parula -- many singing
    Pine Warbler -- 1
    Palm Warbler (yellow) -- 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler (singing male, my first bird as I got out of car) -- 1
    Yellow-rumped Warbler -- myriads
    Yellow-throated Warbler -- 1
    Black-and-white Warbler -- 3
    Louisiana Waterthrush -- 3 (singing)

Also, lots of Ruby-crowned Kinglets (singing), a few Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, and 2 or 3 dozen Northern Rough-winged Swallows, plus the usual residents.
