Immediately walking out of QA County High School in Centreville after a NHS ceremony this evening (~8), I heard least terns calling and looked up to see 2 flying overhead. After taking a longer look, I soon realized there were A LOT more, I estimated 80 birds total.   It seemed that they were just dropping from the sky in one big group...I have not seen any of the birds from this colony yet this year until this evening, so I believe they maybe were just arriving. I've seen this in past years, and this colony grows every year. I am worried though that there is no one monitoring these birds, and being one of the larger colonies around, I feel that it is necessary. Has anyone had this same concern or have been in the same situation? Any guidance would be much appreciated.
