Returned from family vacation at Jekyll Island, GA last night and upon
waking up this morning was pleased to find that catbirds, House Wren and
Chimney Swifts had all returned to my yard sometime over the last week while
I was gone. Also had my 1st ever yard Prairie Warbler. While trying to spot
the singing Prairie Warbler, could have sworn I heard 3-4 "che-bek" calls of
a Least Flycatcher but the vocalization stopped and I was unable to find the
bird.

Around 1 pm while taking out trash, again heard a "che-bek" or two, got my
binos and got distant look at an empid in tree behind my house. Played a
Least FC call from my ipod to see if would respond and bird came closer
allowing me to get a better look. I am not particularly great (visually)
with empids but did notice the bold complete eye ring. It never did
"che-bek" again, instead giving only a single note "whit" call, which I
recorded. Also played an Acadian FC call but the bird seemed uninterested.

Feel fairly certain it was a Least Flycatcher. Thought it might be a bit
early. None have been reported on eBird in MD but noticed that they have
been reported to the north in PA.

Enjoy migration!
