I birded the Fran Uhler Natural Area (FUNA) from about 6:30 until a little past dusk. The highlight was the vocalizing Whip-poor-will, who started singing at 8:28 pm near the parking lot along the entrance road. They had started calling (single notes) about ten minutes beforehand. Once started, the birds continued to sing the whole time I remained. Other birds seen or heard at FUNA included a Barred Owl, Scarlet Tanager, Acadian Flycatcher, Wood Thrush, Ovenbirds, and one Northern Waterthrush bobbing and singing along a small creek.
