Did a short walk at Elvaton Park in the Millersville area of AA county Tuesday afternoon. Ive been working on correct identification of the Orioles trees so am posting little late. Anyone wanting good easy view of Baltimore Orioles should check out this area. They were hanging in and around the Scarlet Oak (or PinOak ? ) Its written that these trees are very much alike but one is found in Sandy areas and one is found in Swampy areas . Now these trees are in Sandy area but near Swampy area . Anyway the interesting thing is they are eating the from the strings of flowers adorning these trees. Im told they are possibly called Catkins . Did have four of them chasing each other and one might get hit in the head from out of control Orioles here . The park is on East West Hwy .but take the side streets to get to the entrance on the backside. After going thru the entrance , park in first spaces on the right . Take the trail here over the wooden bridge
. Redtailed Hawk nest is on the right here in tall pines . If you walk straight ahead you would run right into the Oak trees where Orioles can be found. There is a fenced in pond here but not much else of note.
