Birders, conservationists,

Vince Burke of the Johns Hopkins University Press has just offered matching gifts to support this year's IBA Birdathon.

The first 5 pledges that we receive at the level of $1 a species will receive a free copy of the 2nd Atlas of the Breeding Birds of Maryland and the District of Columbia, published by Johns Hopkins in 2010. This superb volume, summarizing the results of Maryland/DC's premier citizen science project, should be owned by every birder in the region, so don't miss out on this offer!

On May 7th, 2011, the Maryland-DC IBA Birdathon team of Audubon staff and friends will reconvene for this year's Big Day to raise funds for bird conservation at Maryland's best bird sites. The team, made up of Dave Curson and David Yeany II of Audubon Maryland-DC and David Ziolkowski and Mikey Lutmerding, birders extraordinaire, will cover much of Maryland to find as many bird species as possible in a 24-hour period. Upto 200 species are possible! You can make a pledge to our Birdathon at http://mddc.audubon.org/

If the online giving site is still not working, you can e-mail your pledge directly to me at this e-mail address. All proceeds from the Birdathon go to support the Maryland-DC IBA Program. Please support us!

Thanks,

Dave
