What a nice day--and warblers generally are active for longer on cooler days like this, which is a good thing since I got there at 10am. I spent most of the time in the picnic area. Quit at 1:30. The best thing: I got excellent looks at most of the warblers. Is any bird more striking and brilliant than a Prothonotary? Very enjoyable time. The river was very high--the wildflower path btw the creek and the river was flooded, inaccessible. Two barred owls sang at the picnic area. A Chat was in the usual general area for that bird, as were the KYs. 2 Ceruleans in the picnic spot but not elsewhere. Great looks at them.

Some of the birds:

Scarlet Tanager (1, fos)
Indigo Bunting (quite a few, fos)
Great-Crested Fly (several)
Barred Owl (2, picnic)
Warbling Vireo (several)
White-Eyed Vireo (couple)
YELLOW-THROATED VIREO (1, fos)
Red-Eyed (everywhere)
KENTUCKY WARBLER (4, all in picnic area, easy to get, great views, fos)
CERULEAN (2, one in picnic woods, one btw picnic pond and Stafford Road, fos)
CHAT (1, usual area more or less in picnic, fos)
Redstart (many, widespread)
Black-Throated Blue (half dozen, mainly picnic area)
Parula (everywhere)
NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH (1, near mill around creek ditch)
Louisiana Waterthrush (a few, various locations)
Black-Throated Green (1, Craig's Rd.)
Yellow-Throated Warbler (2,Stafford St., singing from tall trees on other side of creek upstream from nexus bridge)
Black-and-White Wablers (2)
Common Yellowthroat (several, picnic area)
Yellow-Rumped (dozen, various places)
Prothonotary (4+, various places, got very close, gorgeous views)
Ovenbird (various places)

All Good Birding,

Tim
