Hi Everybody:

I met Dave Powell at Hughes Hollow about 4:25 PM. After Dave left I spent
several minutes scanning from the main dike with no luck. I then walked down
the path between the 2 western dikes and began scanning. Way to my left I
saw the P.Gallinule fly about 30 feet and then land on the spadderdock. I
had it scoped for about 5 minutes from 4:55 to about 5 PM. It was very
active and eventually moved from the center of the impoundment then back
towards me and then ended up flying away from me towards the parking lot
side of the impoundment. I was standing near the only tree that has branches
that extend over the path (about 1/3-1/2 down the path). I was looking
across the impoundment towards two of the new nest boxes that are fairly
close to each other. The last I saw of the bird was just beyond these boxes
when it moved into the taller vegetation. I had to leave for an appointment
and was hoping that somebody would have showed up before I left.

Within the time that Dave first saw it and the last time I saw it the Purple
Gallinule was very active moving around quite a bit.
