The Purple Gallinule showed itself this morning at 9:15 to a small group.
It was seen from the parking area.  As you face the impoundment from the
parking area, it was at the far right end of the parking area.  It called
before appearing, and had also called several times earlier.

Prior to that point, I met a young birder and Marine, who had gotten there
before me, Ross.  He had heard a Least Bittern call earlier, so keep your
eyes out therefor.  I'd like to thank Ross, as well as Jan, and forget
already the other woman's name, for cluing to the right spot to wait for
the Gallinule.

And if anyone heard a Black Rail around 9:30, that was my birdpod, not the
real thing.  Hope springs eternal.
