Hello Gail and Barry,

I hope you don't mind my contacting you directly.  Feel free to post this
if 
you wish.

My wife Susan and I watched the struggle at Pennyfield, hoping to see the 
Great Blue Heron survive.  Though it really looked like the heron was 
exhausted, the bird finally managed to free itself from the turtle's grasp.

The heron walked gingerly to the back of the pond, where it stood on a 
rock very quietly.  It still had both legs and feet, though it seemed  to
favor 
what was surely a sore right leg.

A ranger came by (did you call him), and we told him the news.  He said 
he would keep an eye on the bird.
