Subject: the great blue survived
Hello Gail and Barry,
I hope you don't mind my contacting you directly. Feel free to post this
if
you wish.
My wife Susan and I watched the struggle at Pennyfield, hoping to see the
Great Blue Heron survive. Though it really looked like the heron was
exhausted, the bird finally managed to free itself from the turtle's grasp.
The heron walked gingerly to the back of the pond, where it stood on a
rock very quietly. It still had both legs and feet, though it seemed to
favor
what was surely a sore right leg.
A ranger came by (did you call him), and we told him the news. He said
he would keep an eye on the bird.
