I birded Dorchester County on Saturday. Migrant warblers were hard to come
by, but overall the birding was good. Here's a quick rundown of some of the
highlights:

Meekins Neck Rd:
Blue-winged Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler

Taylor's Island:
Bufflehead - 2
Least Tern - 2
Caspian Tern - 1
Forster's Tern - 33
Royal Tern - 12
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 1 - flew inside my car and sat on the dashboard!

Blackwater NWR--Tubman Rd. Trail
Instead of walking the mosquito-infested trail, I decided to do a 45 min
hawk watch from the unfinished boardwalk.
Bald Eagle - 6
Red-tailed Hawk - 1
COMMON NIGHTHAWK - 1 - hawking insects at 1:30 in the aftenoon!! Not many
reports in the county. Photographed.
Prairie Warbler - 2
Yellow-breasted Chat - 1

Blackwater NWR--Wildlife Drive:
Gadwall - 4
Little Blue Heron - 2 - immatures
Semipalmated Plover - 3
BLACK TERN - 1 - adult flying low over one of the impoundments.
Photographed.

Elliott Island Road:
Wild Turkey - 1
Virginia Rail - 3
Common Moorhen - 4
Glossy Ibis - 5
Northern Harrier - 3
Black-necked Stilt - 4
Dunlin - 65
Marsh Wren - 40
