Hey everyone,

When I got home from work this afternoon I received a call from Jim
Green informing me that he had two Black-necked Stilts at Pickering
Creek. When I arrived around 5:45pm the two stilts were easily viewed
feeding in the impoundment right in front of the blind on the entrance
road. He then pointed me in the direction of a Black-billed Cuckoo
that he had seen just before I arrived. We soon refound the bird
which gave us short but good looks. We then decided to drive down to
Tilghman Island where our first stop was Tilghman Back Creek Park. On
the sandbar visible from the viewing platform were four Semipalmated
Plovers and in the marsh a calling Willet. We then proceeded down to
Black Walnut Point where a Summer Tanager (JG only) and a
Yellow-throated Warbler were our only decent passerines. We flushed a
Black-crowned Night-Heron near the government installation which
called and was viewed briefly flying to the east. We then decided to
spend the last half hour of daylight just scoping bay. We were
rewarded with a flyover American Oystercatcher that flew in from the
east, across the parking lot, then heading towards Poplar Island.
Rounding out our shorebird fly over list was a single Killdeer, a
single Solitary Sandpiper, and a single Lesser Yellowlegs. A pair of
Black Scoters (m/f) and three Surf Scoters were also observed.
