Howdy!

I spent some time along the C&O Canal this morning, birding for the Allegany County May count. Every stop was pretty active up until about noon.

Some highlights were:
-One PECTORAL SANDPIPER, one unidentified peep, both GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS and a couple SPOTTED SANDPIPERs at North Branch.

-Two GRAY CHEEKED THRUSHES, a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, WARBLING VIREO and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW at the Town Creek Aquaduct

-A nice flock of nine WILD TURKEYS on Wagner Rd., near Warrior Mtn WMA.

Warblers included: NORTHERN PARULA, YELLOW, MYRTLE, BLACK-THROATED BLUE, BLACK-THROATED GREEN, WORM-EATING, OVENBIRD, NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, KENTUCKY, PRAIRIE, BLACK-AND-WHITE, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT

Also, I've seen and/or heard at least one COMMON NIGHTHAWK every night since 5/2 over Cumberland.

Good Birding!
Matt
