That's great to hear others are birding this site!  Seems like there could be some really interesting stuff hiding back in the less visited areas.  
 
By the way Greg, if you already haven't it would be helpful to have your observations entered into eBird to build the site list for Ft. DuPont.  Right now it's still pretty sparse.

Like Jason, I've been birding some non-traditional spots in DC, but he's been much better at reporting than I have. I spent a morning at Fort DuPont Park last Sunday and had 48 species. I had most of the birds Jason and Wayne did, but I also had:

Both vultures flying over
American Kestrel harassing a Red-tail (a later Red-tail snapped a twig off in flight!)
Eastern Phoebe - 1
Eastern Wood-Pewee - 1
White-eyed Vireo - 2
Brown Thrasher - 1
Wood Thrush -- perhaps 6
Cape May Warbler - 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler -- small flock
Worm-eating Warbler -- my first ever in DC!

My favorite part of the park is the long dirt-bike trail in the eastern half of the park, but there are also good woods along the southern edge, from the eastern end of the wooded picnic area west to the open picnic area near the park's western entrance off Randle Circle SE. I saw and heard a lot of birds while I was walking along Fort DuPont Road through the center of the park. I still haven't tried the paths in the northern part of the park. That area used to be a golf course, so it's more open than the areas I visited.
